The federal motor carrier safety administration (FMCSA) is a component of the department of transportation that oversees the prevention of accidents caused by commercial motor vehicles (CMVs).
The administration is responsible for enforcing safety regulations that reduce the number of crashes, injuries and casualties resulting from accidents between large vehicles such as commercial buses and trucks.
