SureHire explains Fitness for Duty
Fitness for duty is a program that is utilized to help ensure that workers are mentally and physically fit to complete certain tasks. Fitness for duty can assess a person's physical, mental, and emotional well being prior to a person being assigned to specific job tasks. For example, a firefighter must meet different physical standards than a delivery driver. Testing must be tailored for the specific job and not overreach. Testing must also take into account regulations such as those defined under the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act). The goal is to ensure an individual will be able to not only do the job, but do so in a safe and productive manner.
