SureHire explains Initial Validity Drug Test
In drug testing, an initial validity drug testing is used to check a urine specimen for signs of tampering. Upon arrival at the laboratory, the urine sample will be tested to determine that its physical characteristics are consistent with human urine. Among other things, the sample's pH and specific gravity are tested. For example, using these tests, lab technicians can identify whether a sample has had water or other liquids added to it in an effort to dilute the sample. They can also determine whether anything has been added to the urine in an effort to mask the presence of illegal drugs.
If this initial validity drug testing reveals evidence of tampering, a second confirmatory validity test is usually performed on a different sample of the specimen. If the findings of this test also indicate tampering, then the test sample will be declared invalid.
